Psychotherapy for Adults, Couples, First Responders, Active Duty Personnel, Veterans and Family Members
With over 25 years professionally, I have assisted many individuals and couples to gain insight into their life, reactions and decision making that is creating difficulty in relationships. The focus of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is to empower clients to improve their lives through an understanding of individual control over thinking, responses and behaviors. A CBT approach in therapy offers change while highlighting client strength and diversity. I also specialize in Compassion Fatigue, Burnout and Moral Injury for first responders and many in the helping profession. My expertise, life experiences and guidance offers an open, accepting environment that creates results. With commitment to the process, Your life will change in a positive way!

Burnout
A state of chronic physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress, often in the workplace. It is characterized by feelings of detachment, reduced accomplishment, and overwhelming fatigue.
Compassion Fatigue
Often called “the cost of caring,” it refers to the emotional and physical exhaustion that can arise from consistently empathizing with others’ suffering. It may lead to reduced empathy and emotional numbing over time.
Moral Injury
The psychological distress that occurs when someone acts against their moral values or witnesses events that conflict with their ethical beliefs, leading to feelings of guilt, shame, or betrayal.

I Have Experience With…
Psychotherapy
Social work psychotherapy encompasses a variety of approaches, including individual, group, and family therapy. Common types include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), all of which can be used in social work practice. Additionally, social workers may utilize humanistic therapies, psychodynamic approaches, and behavioral therapies.
Relationship Therapy
Relationship therapy, also known as couples therapy or marriage counseling, is a type of psychotherapy designed to help individuals and couples address and resolve conflicts in their relationships. Whether the issues involve communication, trust, intimacy, or personal differences, relationship therapy provides a safe space for partners to explore their concerns, understand each other’s perspectives, and develop healthier ways to relate to one another. The goal is to strengthen the relationship, improve communication, and foster a deeper emotional connection.
Family Therapy
Family therapy is a type of treatment designed to help with issues that specifically affect families’ mental health and functioning. It can help individual family members build stronger relationships, improve communication, and manage conflicts within the family system. By improving how family members interact and relate to one another, family therapy can foster change in close relationships.
Some of the primary goals of family therapy are to create a better home environment, solve family issues, and understand the unique issues that a family might face.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescent therapy, also known as teen therapy or adolescent counseling, is a form of mental health treatment specifically designed to address the unique challenges and needs of teenagers. It provides a supportive space for teens to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and develop healthy coping mechanisms and social skills.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma-informed treatment is an approach to care that recognizes the pervasive impact of trauma on an individual’s physical, mental, and social well-being. It shifts the focus from “what’s wrong with you?” to “what happened to you?”. This approach aims to understand how past trauma may be influencing current behaviors and challenges, and to provide care that is sensitive to potential triggers and avoids retraumatization.
